West Dean Centre

The West Dean Centre is in Bream High Street in the centre of the village. The building was formerly Bream Church of England School, built by the Reverend Cornelius Witherby in 1862 and originally named Bream National School. A century later it was purchased by West Dean Parish Council from the County Council in order to save it from demolition. West Dean Parish Office is based at the Centre.

A wide range of local groups regularly use the hall, covering interests such as keep fit, gardening, singing, history, art, Brownies and Early Learners.

The West Dean Centre car park gates open at 7.00am and close at 8.00pm.  This car park is for those using the Centre and play area but West Dean Parish Council are aware that it is used by the public also.

West Dean Centre Regular Groups

Gosling’s Community Café is held at the Centre on Friday mornings. Newly refurbished the cafe is open for the public to call in and have a drink and light refreshments.

Hire charges are as follows:-

All rooms are let at a minimum of £17.00 per room for 2 hours, then £8.50 per hour thereafter.

For the Main Hall (Eales & Gosling Rooms) a minimum of £25.50  for 2 hours, then £12.75 per hour thereafter.

If you hire a room in the centre for more than 4 hours per week then a 10% reduction will applied to the above rates.

The above rates include the use of the café which is shared with all other users of the Centre.
