Temporary Traffic Order to close the road for carriageway patching. New Road, Whitecroft
When: 30th November (one day only) between 1000 and 1700.

On behalf of Gloucestershire County Council, we will shortly be patching sections of carriageway at the
above location to repair localised faults and improve the condition of the road.
Our patching programme is dependent on several factors. It can be affected by things like; heavy rain, snow,
changes in temperatures and other weather events as well as plant breakdown and unforeseen technical
issues that arise once work has begun. All this means scheme dates and details can change at short
notice.
ROAD CLOSURE
We will be patching the road at the above location as part of our promise to invest £150 million in the
county’s roads. To ensure the safety of you and our work force we have, under Sections 14, 15 & 16 of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, made a Temporary Traffic Order to close the road.
We will be patching in multiple locations along the stretch of road marked in red on the map overleaf.
We appreciate road closures are inconvenient, but in order to keep you and the team working on the road
safe it is necessary. We have planned the work so we can be in and out as quickly as possible.
ACCESS
In accordance with the Temporary Traffic Order, we are not permitted to allow any person or vehicle to
proceed along the closed roads; with the exception of pedestrian access to properties, emergency vehicles,
and statutory undertakers responding to an emergency situation.
Therefore, if you normally drive into or out of this area during the hours when the road closure is in place, we
ask you to please make alternative arrangements.
LOCAL ACCESS
In exceptional circumstances, some level of access may be considered. This will be on a case by case basis
and only where and when it is safe and practical to do so and provided the traffic management personnel
are approached with a reasonable request; however access cannot be guaranteed or demanded at any
time. Any access during this time would be at the drivers own risk as it is a works site and may have raised
iron works or a temporary surface.
PARKING
Please note that parking on the road (as marked red on the map) will be prohibited during the works. We will
make every effort to contact the owners of any vehicles left parked on road, but if unsuccessful, we may have
to arrange for them to be removed to a secure area until collected by owners. Off-road parking will be
unaffected.

Essential maintenance works to Lower Cannop Spillway. This work is on-going until the dam has been made safe.

Work began on the 4th October and is still ongoing now. The site is a live site, therefore it remains closed and will remain closed for this duration. The site has been fenced off and signs put in place to prevent access. There are signs in place for a diversion of the PRoW that crosses from the Family Cycle Trail over the footbridge that crosses the Spillway and goes past the stone works. Temporary Traffic Order to close the road for essential Ash Dieback tree work.

B4228 Coleford to Trow Green

Tuesday 11th May 2021 from 09.30 to 15.30

On behalf of Gloucestershire County Council, we will shortly be carrying out essential works at the
above location in order to remove unsafe trees infected with Ash Dieback.
Ash Dieback disease causes Ash trees to become unsafe, and the tree could shed limbs or collapse
on to the road causing harm and injury. This work must take place for health and safety reasons, to
protect road users and pedestrians, and make sure the carriageway remains clear of debris.
ROAD CLOSURE
We will be carrying out essential tree works at the above location for health and safety reasons to
protect users of highways and county council land as part of our Ash Dieback project. To ensure the
safety of you and our work force we have, under Sections 14, 15 & 16 of the Road Traffic Act 1984
as amended, made a Temporary Traffic Order to close the road.
Due to the type of activities required with tree felling and maintenance works, the road closure can
cover an area greater than where work is taking place. This is to allow safe movement and
placement of machinery and material.
We appreciate road closures are inconvenient, but it is necessary to keep you and the team working
on the road safe. We have planned the work so we can be in and out as quickly as possible and
have tried to do it at a time that will minimise any inconvenience.
ACCESS
In accordance with the Temporary Traffic Order, we are not permitted to allow any person or vehicle
to proceed along the closed roads; with the exception of emergency vehicles, statutory undertakers
responding to an emergency situation. We will endeavour to keep the public foot path open at all
times, if it is necessary to close it at any point it will be for a limited time and fully supervised by our
trained banks man.
Therefore, if you normally drive into or out of this area during the hours when the road closure is in
place, we ask you to please make alternative arrangements.

In exceptional circumstances, some level of access may be considered. This will be on a case by
case basis and only where it doesn’t impact on our ability to carry out the work and where it is safe
to do so. Any access during this time would be at the drivers own risk as it is a works site.
DIVERSIONS
We have created an official diversion route which will be signposted and is suitable for all vehicles
that would normally use the closed road. We appreciate you may know an alternative route,
however please be aware alternative routes which are outside of the road closure area are used at
driver’s discretion.
Parking
If you usually park within the road closure, you will need to find alternative parking nearby during the
hours the road is closed.

Brockhollands Road Closure

12th - 15th April 2021

Road from bottom of Brockhollands at Brockhollands to the Bream to Lydney Road

Temporary Traffic Order to close the road for carriageway patching.

Where: B4234 Cannop Road, Parkend - see overleaf for details of road closure.
When: Thursday 1st April for approximately 1-2 hours anytime between the hours 07:00 to 17:00.

On behalf of Gloucestershire County Council, we will shortly be patching failed sections of carriageway at the
above location in preparation for a surface dressing treatment.
Our patching programme is dependent on several factors. It can be affected by things like; heavy rain,
changes in temperatures and other weather events as well as plant breakdown and unforeseen technical
issues that arise once work has begun. All this means scheme dates and details can change at short
notice. We appreciate this is inconvenient, and we will keep our social media feeds updated with more
details if changes happen.
You can find the most up to date patching scheme start and end dates and more information about this
scheme on our:
- Website - www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/county-resurfacing-works/patching/
- Signs in the area
ROAD CLOSURE
We will be patching the road at the above location as part of our promise to invest £150 million in the
county’s roads. To ensure the safety of you and our work force we have, under Sections 14, 15 & 16 of the
Road Traffic Act 1984 as amended, made a Temporary Traffic Order to close the road.
We will be patching in multiple locations along the stretch of road marked in red on the map overleaf.
We appreciate road closures are inconvenient, but in order to keep you and the team working on the road
safe it is necessary. We have planned the work so we can be in and out as quickly as possible and have
tried to do it at a time that will minimise any inconvenience.
In exceptional circumstances, some level of access may be considered. This will be on a case by case basis
and only where it doesn’t impact on our ability to carry out the work and where it is safe to do so. Any
access during this time would be at the drivers own risk as it is a works site and may have raised iron works
or a temporary surface.
DIVERSION
We have created an official diversion route which will be signposted and is suitable for all vehicles that
would normally use the closed road. We appreciate you may know an alternative route, however please be
aware alternative routes which are outside of the road closure area are used at driver’s discretion.

BBC Casualty filming on Parkend Station & level crossing.

Just a brief note to make you fully aware of the filming scheduled to take place at Parkend soon,
of which some residents are no doubt aware. A road closure for safety purposes has been
approved by Gloucestershire Council. It will extend up Yorkley Road from it’s junction with New
Road to the junction with Church Drive or thereabouts. A signed diversion will be in place which
is shown on the map overleaf. Resident access beyond this point will be possible.
The dates and times of the closure are as follows:
Tuesday April 6th 0900 – road closed until Wednesday April 7th 1900.
Thursday April 8th – road closed 0800 – 1900
Friday April 9th – road closed 0800 – 1900
Saturday April 10th – road closed 0800 – 2100 latest.
We will endeavour to open the road earlier if at all possible. Tuesday will be preparation.
Wednesday to Saturday will be filming, with a couple of hours at most to clear up at the end
hence the slightly later road opening time.
The council have informed the local police of the activity, and we have been in touch with the
church and school. By the time this letter is distributed, we will also have attended a virtual
meeting with the West Dean Council, members of Gloucestershire Council as well as members
of the local community and organisations.
We are in discussion with the Parkend Club and the Fountain with regards to the use of their
facilities which will enable the great majority of our vehicles to be parked off road.
We are of course in close contact with Dean Forest Railway too.
We appreciate that this activity is likely to cause some disruption locally and would like to
apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. It is slightly unusual for the film unit
to be on a single location for this length of time but the nature of the script and it’s specialist
requirements make that so. There are very few locations where we could hope to safely film
scenes of this nature.
Access – The pedestrian route via the platform and footbridge will remain open. The path known
as Ladies Walk will be unaffected. For those unable to use either of these paths, we will
endeavour to escort them across the road/crossing at the earliest possible safe opportunity to do
so. As much of our action will be placed on the crossing, however, there may be times where this
is not immediately possible. The safety of all concerned must remain our primary focus in this
respect. Resident access to those properties closest to the crossing on the Yorkley side will be
possible throughout although we may sometimes need to hold during takes. New Road will be
unaffected.
Continues over...On one or two of the days, most likely Friday and Saturday, emergency vehicles will appear as
part of the action. There should be no cause for concern.
At some point, yet to be confirmed, there will be a drone in use to film some of the action. This
will be under the control and supervision of a fully qualified pilot.
Finally, Covid19 – I would like to reassure you that we will be observing current guidelines
with regards to limiting the risk of virus transmission. We have a dedicated Covid cohort
on the crew, monitoring adherence to those guidelines.
In recognition of the inconvenience caused, we will be in discussion with the local council
regarding ways in which we can contribute to the possible development of a children’s play area
locally.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me on the number below or my
colleague Kay Wilson and we'll be very happy to help.
We thoroughly appreciate all co-operation and understanding, thank you all very much.
Yours faithfully
