Forestry Works Yorkley

This is to inform you of the forest operations that should begin in the area of Yorkley soon due to a confirmed case of Phytophthora ramorum. The orange area on the adjacent map shows the previous clearfell. The hatched area shows the new area to be clearfelled and the green area shows where susceptible species (larch and sweet chestnut) are to be removed. Felling must be completed by the end of March 2023 under the Statutory Plant Health Notice that has been Issued.

The main thing to remember is the disease is not harmful to people or animals. When visiting the woodland please assist us in reducing the spread of the disease by keeping to marked paths, do not take plant material or soil home with you and before visiting other woodlands, parks, gardens or garden centres, clean mud and leaves from boots, bikes, buggies, dogs and horses.

There is a noticeboard by the trig point at the end of Tower Road where information will be placed and kept up-to-date.

We will try to ensure that disturbance is kept to a minimum. Please take note of safety signs; these are there for the public’s safety and the safety of the forest workers.
